I am too tired to form an argument. But you can ask any potential buyer what they intend to do with the item. You can then decide what to do with it. If they intend to destroy it to bury the past, you can refuse. If they intend to donate or lend it to a museum you can accept. If they want to just keep it as a memento of notoriety, i would be inclined to not sell, until a more concientious buyer comes along.
