I just don't think that what arms are affordable to the general public are significant compared to the social contract, when it comes to removing an oppressive government. It this day and age, and given our current level of civilization.

A corrupt government can be removed by the established legal means. If it cannot, then arms certainly won't make a difference.

An oppressive government being removed by force of arms - well, the most recent example of this happening would be back in 1963, when the horribly oppressive head of government was removed by a brave citizen who dared express the authority that the second amendment gave him. Or was that really what happened? Do we really still need this capability? Or is our freedom from an oppressive government adequately protected by our high level of civilization that makes our cooperation necessary for any government to function?
