The overthrow of a corrupt government is precisely why the framers of the Constitution included that Amendment. They felt that a standing army was too dangerous, and so they sought to make it pointless to create one. Since they did not outlaw a standing army, there was no need to add Amendments when we implemented one - which certainly did become necessary later. The real point that I'm trying to convey is that they literally intended for a majority of citizens to be armed so that overthrow of the government was possible.
