Buying a phone by Kickstart 2007-06-12 20:37:43
I've decided I need a new phone, and I've never paid much attention to what I was choosing really previously. Now that I'm living more rurally, my current phone's signal is horrendous. Where coworkers (using the same provider) have 4 bars of signal, I usually have one.

Two of my coworkers have Motorola RAZR v3c phones and they are pretty decent it appears. It's available for $29 on a three year contract via the provider (not really any decent choice around here). I see that there is a new version (v3m) that has some better features (takes a larger memory card, for one), but is not available through the provider yet. I can get it for about $200.

I know that I will want EVDO capability, as that's coming here and it may be a decent choice for internet access, instead of dialup when we move to our land. I definitely want a camera phone. I absolutely must have better signal than I do now. Other than that, I don't have all that many requirements, though other features would be nice (MP3 player, with a headset plug, would be cool).

Does anyone know more about this? Suggestions? Preferably not spending gobs of cash?

Thx,

KS
