Thanks 1) for the congrats, and 2) for the advice. I think I will go with putting it on the birth certificate, as most of you advise.
The only drawback I could see in putting it on the birth certificate was that if we decided to "shift" the lineage when the eldest dies, forcing everyone to change their suffix. It is supposedly the proper way, but rare. Having the name on the B.C. would be a hindrance in such a situation, but I don't think that's much of a concern, as it probably won't happen.
