Driving LEDs (Attn: Electronics Geeks) by MrTrick2007-06-03 19:31:26
  Question: by Egaeus 2007-06-03 20:45:40
Why the microcontroller?

Beyond that, the simplest solution is for the microcontroller to drive each LED from that single circuit by using it to create a path to ground. I'd say use the uc to drive a mosfet between the LED and ground. The voltage drop from the source to the drain shouldn't be too much, but keep that in mind before you go buying transistors.

I didn't look too hard at the uc, but make sure it can supply enough current. I'd use some kind of buffer (like a BJT as the switch in the circuit) to keep from frying the uc. They're not typically good for driving anything themselves.

Of course, I could be pointing you in the wrong direction. I haven't looked at analog circuits in years. I just picked up the Art of Electronics as light bedtime reading to refresh myself.
