Attempt to gauge the level of technology utilised by the denziens of the planet, and determine if making contact is a wise course of action. Additionally, scan for weapons emplacements capable of reaching space. Thirdly severely reprimand the bridge officer for not putting the ship in the shadow of the planet's moon or high over one of the poles if no moon was available, because there's no way I'd have made such a rookie mistake.
Fourthly, no matter what happens, upon the conclusion of the mission, return to earth and beat the crap out of the furry-toothed, flower-waving hippie who sent an interstellar starship out without the ability to defend itself, then get some weapons put in.
Comically?
Send down the first officer in a red shirt with two of the scientists. I don't like the moves he's putting on the navigator, and she's the captain's prerogative, if you catch my drift. |
