telecommunication, then I would monitor signals and put a telecom engineer and linguist on making sense of the signal. If I determine that they are hostile, I would likely not make contact. If I determine that they are friendly, I would likely send down in each shuttle one or two security guards, one astronaut, and the rest scientists. If I cannot determine, I would send down one shuttle with one astronaut, one security guard, and one linguist, to try to bring someone back to the ship.
