1st option take 1 shuttle down to try to make "we come in peace""shoot to kill" contact, with the following crew: Captain, 2 scientists hopefully one with linguistic or some similar form of understanding and of course 2 security personnel... 1 to stay with shuttle to secure it, the other to die, as only a red shirt can, to show how serious the situation can become. ok so that's my humor option.
2nd option, avoid detection from orbit and study the planet and inhabitants without interfering, very prime directive-ish until we know more then possibly make peaceful contact or with enough time of study, time to contact Home base\leadership to make protocol for making contact... however i think this most likely and incredibly more likely the home base will already have some sort of atleast theorized protocol for almost any scenario. |
