GE issued a recall on Wednesday of a couple MILLION dishwashers. Apparently there is this little issue of a fire hazard. The affected units were manufactured between 1997 and 2001. The GE website for the recall is here. There is a place for you to enter model/serial information and see if yours is affected. According to the website, both GE and Kenmore (Sears) branded dishwashers are affected. I just checked mine, and it is not part of the recall.
