Question for Christians by Allandaros2007-05-18 11:58:33
The origional Christian symbol was a fish. by RetiQlum2 2007-05-18 12:34:36
The cross wasn't used until about 150 ACE. It has much to do with the Romans losing their faith in their old pantheon and turning to either Christ or Mithras. Mithras was also born of a virgin mother, was a son of a Sun god (hence the halo) and was executed on the cross. It was a mixture of the two religions that eventually led to the Catholic Church. The cross was actually a depiction of the sword of Constantine, not of the cross that Christ died on.

I know that many of you won't believe me: to those I say read "Constantine's Sword" By James Carroll. I'm not Christian though, but the author of that book is a former member of the preisthood.
