In a test match there is no real pressure to score runs, you have all the time you need. The aim is to not get out and score runs when you can. However over 100 runs means that you've probably survived at least 100 and probably closer to 200 balls bowled at you over the space of several hours. When it only takes one mistake to be out that is a remarkable feat of concentration.
