Though I do recognize the distinction between a religion and a church...every organization needs funds to operate. As a member of a church, I am expected to provide my fair share in the operating costs and missionary work that the church provides. That is not out of line. I view my tithe in the same way I view any donation to charity. I want to know what the money is being used for. It's easier with my church because we get annual reports from the treasurer...something you don't necessarily see from most charities.
