One maximized instance watching the time and refreshing as frequently as practical.

Second instance for confirming bid in front and low, leaving exposed the above mentioned time & current bid. No need to alt-tab this way.

Provided I'm willing to spend, I get what I bid on. I have been outbid by people willing to spend excessively - therein lies the problem with ebay addiction. It's easy to pay more on ebay than Amazon or brick & mortar storefronts if you're not careful and get caught up in the bid war. (Or in the case of vintage analogue synthesizers, just pay hundreds more than current street value.)
