I had to call in sick from work today. You know the kind of sick where your bodily fluids can't make up their minds if they are coming or going? And when they're going, then they can't make up their minds which orifice they should make use of? That's what I got. To make matters worse we're running short of manpower at work this weekend. I work as frontline tech support at a worldwide B2B software company where 24/7 support is needed. So we work three shifts. I work the night shifts. Tuesday the guy on the evening shift this weekend reports sick because of a bad case of pink-eye. His doctor told him that he should stay away from monitors and such to avoid exerting the eye. He also has to wear a patch for a few days. So we have to call in our only (and less than reliable) replacement. Because of labour shortage the seat on the day shift on weekends is currently vacant, so that leaves us with only two people at work in weekends instead of the normal three. I have the night shift this weekend. Tonight while at work I suddenly got hit by a bad case of stomach-ache. I had to make regular 'outings' to the lavetory for you-know-what. Not so cool. I was struck by cold seat and the occational feeling of nausea. When I got home this morning I had barely closed my front door before I had to make a long-distance call in the big white phone. Since that time it just went downhill from there. Not cool at all. About noon I had to call in sick. So now there will only be one at work (so far) for the weekend. Great. They say that when it rains it pours. Well, I feel drenched. :-(
