I finally managed to get my wireless NIC working in Ubuntu last night, so now I have a couple of questions...
- What's a good way to compile the KDE desktop environment? I know GNOME is the default, and if you want KDE you have to compile it, so which packages will I need to grab? I'm trying to convince MrsRantingGeek that GNU/Linux is far superior to Windows, but she doesn't think it's (pardon the pun) "user friendly". So, I figure I could compile the KDE desktop and install a Windows-like skin just to prove my point. Not to mention, I think Wine should let me run Microsoft Office?
- I'm noticing that I don't have any sort of a wireless signal strength monitor after using ndiswrapper to use the Windows-based driver for my NIC. Any suggestions on how to fix that?
