just stopped dating now is NOT a good time to date her. Avoid the rebound thing and the problems with dating a friends ex.

Case in point: A friend of mine dated a girl that then dated two other guys in the group of friends that I hung around with later on and married the third one. Let me tell you...there were some SERIOUSLY strained moments at times when all of them were around each other. It all worked out in the end but, those 4 people don't get together as much anymore because of all of the emotional baggage.

Now as for me, the girl I have been dating went to prom with my best friend in High school and he was hung on her for many years afterwards. Fast forward from 1988 to 2003 and he is ok with it because time has passed and we have all moved on and grown up as well.

My suggestion is be friends with both of them and just let things happen.
