or how to really say it right...
Take some time, get her out of your system, and start over. They might last, they might not, but going on this way could cost you two friendships in the end. The B5 of it is, you'll probably still find her attractive no matter what you do, but that's normal.
Attraction, no matter how strong, is not sufficient for starting a relationship. Yes its necessary, but if it was the sole condition, then you'd be changing partners as often as your mood.
Years back a close friend of mine became involved with someone, and while they were dating I started having feelings for her. In the end I decided the impracticality of the situation and looked for someone else to gaze at fondly. I think we could have been a great couple, and in the end I felt closer to her than to my friend, but I think the feelings developed not so much because of an evolving friendship, but because I was on the market and my hormones didn't want to play by the rules.
It's hard to explain, I'm not really cold and analytical about everything but there is a certain amount of chaos theory involved in emotions, and (here's the pot and the kettle scenario) sometimes taking that step back and a deep breath or two helps to take the next step in a positive direction.
just give it time. A couple of weeks, a month at the outside and it will likely fade. I'm not going to say it definitely will or it won't, your feelings are obviously important to you, but there's no absolute concrete guarantee that it's destiny, you decide that. I'm just one of those people who is of the opinion that it it better to find the hand of fate pulling themselves towards someone a little more-avaiable.</rant> |
