Take some crushed garlic on a spoon (teaspoon usually, you might want a tablespoon though) and smother it with honey (partly for taste, but has some benefits too), then swallow the concoction. I try to keep the honey as a buffer from the garlic, as much as I love garlic... a spoonful when already sick doesn't go over so well.
