No maps for you, evil-doers! by CynicalRyan 2007-05-09 13:32:34
NGIA head wants to censor satellite images

Google Earth was part of a discussion in Germany, for the fear that evil-doers, aka terrorists, could use satellite imagery to launch attacks against World Cup stadiums. And I thought only Germans would be that daft.

Newsflash: Anyone with a map and navigational skills can get coordinates for a stand-off attack. Better ban watches, too.

Anyone with a camera and a ladder or airplane can get surveillance photos. Better ban cameras, too.

Not to mention that non-US commercial satellite operators can still sell their images to whomever they please. Better cover the U.S. of A. in tinfoil. Just to be sure.
