of his arrival, I can't say. I do know of at least one instance where someone entered the country illegally, hid, got caught, applied for assylum, and it was granted.

Sometimes they don't apply for assylum out of fear, because experience has taught them that they can't trust $government. It's only after they are caught that a lawyer says: I think we can get you assylum.
