I have programmed long enough to have to work on other people's code who 1) didn't document anything 2) wrote lengthly comments - but the code didn't follow them I am undecided which is worse. In the case of 2), the code when printed out was the size of a medium city's phone book. It was faster and cleaner to rewrite the entire thing. Also much smaller and faster. After the new code was accepted for production, I found the 2 line bug that caused the old code to crash. Really irritating.
