Since we cannot conceive of their capabilities, I'm not sure we can hope to control them.

Of course, there is a possibility of a popular science fiction plot coming true. One where a superior intelligence is tasked with finding the answer to life, the Universe and everything. And it comes to life and starts cogitating. And uses an enormous amount of resources, apparently focusing on this all-important question. Until one day, it is ready to produce an answer. Instead of an answer, however, it shuts itself off.

Maybe that's a best-case scenario? Maybe Daleks is closer to what will eventually happen?
