in nearly every way. machines can go faster, lift more, work for longer, survive exceptional environments, 'remember' more, calculate faster and more accurately, and apply pure logic much more effectivey and effectively. Besides, the human race has only ever been necessary for the human race, so it's a rather silly discussion anyway; as long as there are humans, the existence of humans is a necessity. :)
