And I have a bit of a sunburn on the back of my neck to boot.
Spent the day working in my yard. It actually felt good to be working on my own place for a change instead of the apartments next door. I will be so glad when that place is sold. At this point, I am doing the minimum work necessary over there.
I got a lot done in my yard, though. Raked the grass (mowed it yesterday - it gets too thick to mulch it without stalling the mower - and that's just in 1 week). I also started clearing the weed patch at the back corner of the yard where we have been dumping all the various trimmings and such (can't throw them out with the trash - DEP issues there), cut down three shrubs that were hopelessly overgrown, all with 'volunteer' trees int he middle of them that just wouldn't go away. They were in somewhat awkward locations anyway, and too big to dig out and relocate.
I plan to re-plant two of the three shrubs - one was a lilac, one was a forsythia, I'm not sure of the third. I alread have a place picked for a new Forsythia. I'll try to start one from my mom's, if that fails I will just go out and buy one. Same goes for the Lilac, although I don't have a place picked for that yet. Maybe at the back corner of the house by the driveway. I also want to start a piece of mom's sweet spice shrub (not sure if that's it's real name or not). It is not much to look at, but it has these wonderfully fragrant, spicy smelling, crunchy flowers on it.
Now it's off to hit the ibuprofen. Or perhaps something stronger. Rum would be an option (not with the IB, though - it can do nasty things), except I am out. Why is the rum always gone? :( |
