I saw this headline and thought of hadji by lab rat2007-04-30 17:29:11
:P Looks to me to be a rather flawed study. by Silverfire2007-04-30 17:42:35

Actually I did read it. I don't agree with it by Silverfire2007-04-30 18:31:13
You're making conclusions from the article ... by Sharku 2007-04-30 18:58:45
...where there aren't IMO. I have re-read the article several times now, and to me there wasn't even a hint of causality between being a lesbian as such and being obese, nor was there one between being lesbian and having better self image. There wasn't much of anything mentioned about causes for obesity, you simply stated that selfimage was discarded from the study altogether, so I quoted the part where it is mentioned. As for why lesbians are more likely to be obese, I haven't a clue, although I'm willing to put money on your theory that selfimage/stress factors etc. are far more important factors than sexual orientation.

All in all, the whole article read like someone did a "SELECT * FROM women WHERE weight=obese AND sexuality=hetero/lesbian" and then just counted the results (yeah I know SQL can do that too, I'm just too rusty in it ;-).
