OUR culture allowed the beating of women less than 100 years ago, and less than 150 years ago, we were allowed to OWN other people.

This is going too far.

Using a passage out of the Koran to justify spousal abuse is just as stupid as using passages out of the Bible to justify stoning unfaithful wives to death (it's in there). Since "Western" culture has been able to get over their misogyny, these other cultures can bloody well do it, too. Especially since they chose to move to the "West". F4 that s4.
