people who met their current SO while volunteering with our SAR group. IIRC the Red Cross is usually looking for volunteers. I even know one guy that spent some much time volunteering at the Red Cross (he wasn't working at the time) that they offered him a job. You don't even have to volunteer for something you already know. Most places are happy just to have someone who is willing to help/learn. If do find a place that you're interested in volunteering at make sure you stress to them that you can be counted for your comitment. Nothing is worse than spending 60 hours training someone just to have them leave after a few weeks.
