Minor traffic violation gets Ottawa student jailed by DesertRat662007-04-30 09:45:58
Routine to harass tourists? by Havoc 2007-04-30 09:57:47
"Georgia state police senior trooper Larry Schnall said it's "routine" for police to haul out-of-country visitors to jail for traffic violations."

Sheesh. No wonder we have a bad rep.

If they are worried about tourists skipping on a $50 fine, perhaps they should run their ID thru the fed database and see if there are any wants. Oh - they do that with ALL stops, even Americans.

So - no reason to assume that tourists will be criminals. Innocent until proven guilty, etc.

If they DO skip, they break the laws, and end up on the fed database - then the NEXT time they get stopped for speeding, lock 'em up.

But first time, no record, traffic offence? That's crazy. Police State, here we come.
