That is generally a warning to stay away from said movie. The worst trend I see in most superhero movies is the escalation of quantities of villains as sequels stack up.
However, my brother (professional movie critic) saw Spiderman III last week and said that the overabundance of villains did not significantly damage the movie. Not that I could be kept away anyway, being a Spidey fanboy from decades past....
I mean, James Bond has been in, like, a thousand movies, with just one (maybe two) bad guys each time! He still seems to be going strong.
I would, however, ideally, like to see a well-managed treatment of the Sinister Six going against Spidey, though it would be prone to poor results if not handled JUST right...
