About car efficiency... (and re: Skippy and Tyop) by etwas_egal2007-04-30 00:07:38

Refinement to point 6: *accelerate* slower. by etwas_egal 2007-04-30 07:46:13
Empirically, I used to use over half my fuel in the first 100m after full stops. Urban driving exaggerates this.

Consolidating errands can also be refined to "consolidate errands along highways", which just happens to work in my life.

Point one: why should I rev that high before shifting? Wait, that's point 8... "Brake Specific Fuel Consumption"? Is that visible to the driver in some way? Wait... you say rev's *do* matter to city driving. And that's what I do. Except when I'm on the highway, and that's the only time the car regularly sees 2500+.

Point seven: I have no A/C! This is living cheap, not saving the world!

No, I meant *DRIVE* slower for point 6 by shadowboy8132007-04-30 10:12:30
