is it Calc, or reversed Algiz (being that they're both the same thing)? Wikipedia, says different howevery. I'd say it's more to do with conservative christian values clashing with the Stereotypical permissiveness of hippie culture, and the peace symbol tends to embody many things to many people (often idiots, but there you go))
