I traveled 17.6km. According to my comp it was 18.2. I think that error is perfectly reasonable given I can only draw straight paths on Google Earth, and isn't evidence against the computer being wrong (isn't really evidence for either, though). At some point I'll do a proper test (a measured distance on a straight road), but for now I'm happy :-)

As a side note, my dad has done tests, comparing the distance measured from his map (with an analogue map-measuring wheel, can't remember the correct term for it) to the distance he actually hiked, as measured by his GPS. He has found that most of the time the distance hiked is considerably greater, often around 10%!
