Kitty mishap. by jiteo 2007-04-28 06:36:48
I work in a local chain of stores that sells computer parts.

Thursday night a husband came in looking for an IDE controller; his wife was carrying a carboard box from a pet store. While I was trying to find something for the husband, another lady asked the wife what's in the box. The wife opens the box to reveal - to them, I can't see it from where I am - a kitten, and they both "aww" and "so cute" at it for a while.

Eventually the box ends up on the glass counter. At this point the husband - realizing that IDE controllers aren't exactly common hardware nowadays - mentions that a USB drive enclosure would work just fine. I move to show him what we have, but oh look, there's this pesky box hiding them.

I jerk the box out of the way.

The wife inhales loudly.

I apologize profusely.

She shows me the kitten to, I can only assume, make my life unbearable with remorse and guilt. It was the cutest most innocent kitten I had ever seen. Eventually the husband decides to buy the enclosure, and the couple gets on their way.

You think in retrospect I could have used the Schrödinger excuse?
