Question: life at work. by Tyop 2007-04-28 02:03:01
My employers dump all kinds of new tasks on me.
I like to believe that it's because they have learned that I learn fast, and rarely f4 something up.

This week I got the maintenance two AC units and now it is decided, that I am fully qualified to do service and repair on length measuring machines...
(the grandmother of babies like this )

Experience tells me, that that's the most efficient way of work-force lock-in. Either they give up, and stay forever, or snap and find a new job.

For me, this coin has two sides:
I was transfered out of my old dept (electrical lab), the one I was getting sick and tired of, fast, and into the temperature/humidity lab, with lots of new stuff to learn, and a managerial "go" to use time to develop new procedures and ideas.
Then I got the field of pressure calibration too (calibration of pressure gauges using air, nitrogen or oil, according to task)
I fear that I end up with 1 real 8 hour a day job, and a lot of little time stealers, worth another 8 hours a day.

Your opinion please.
