for 'simple' stitches I use autostitch.
for more complex I use Hugin.

What is complex? e.g. a picture of my daughters room from ceiling to floor and 360°.
It is not finished - I have to do some more optimizing to get it perfect.

I thought of building me a camera mount, where the camera (my small IXUS 400) sits 'inside' the mount, so that the pivot (?) point is at the nodal (?) point of the camera (not only for the azimut, also for the height).
Then - theoretically - I can just write down the angles, give them to hugin with each picture (together with the focal length) and it should stitch perfect - theoretically -
