I don't think there is a solder or sailor out there who believes for a second that the politicians care about them. They know they don't, that is not why they do the job. Then there is the old myth that the military is filled with the disadvantaged. Guess what, the majority come from the middle class and I also know plenty of officers from Ivy League schools. The most important rule in war is to never fight on your own ground if you can help it. Iraq is a honey pot. As long as it is still drawing in the flies no one is dieing in vain.
