political interference.

The basic assumptions made for the aftermath of the war were wrong. OK, they were created by politicians. But someone should still have caught on.

Of course, one of the assumptions were that a moral wrong wouldn't matter in people's attitude - nor in world opinion. Again, a fatal mistake in more ways than one. And if you believe that it is political interference that has kept the war from success, why would you assume that the same administration can be successful now? What has changed to reduce political interference? A change in power in Congress and Senate?
