Spamcop, historically, has been inaccurate by SoylentGreen2007-04-26 12:33:24
But these numbers aren't FROM SpamCop... by firehawk2007-04-26 12:49:48
Of course I did, especially the last paragraph by SoylentGreen2007-04-26 13:03:57

Yeah, we run spamcop in SpamAssassin. It is an indicator of spam, but it isn't something I would block on alone. I didn't look at the author's comments. I just saw that his numbers showed no false positives from SpamCop, which is not my experience.

I've also seen problems with safe.sorbs. It was catching gmail due to some of their hosts being in the new.spam.dnsbl.sorbs.net which says: "List of hosts that have been noted as sending spam/UCE/UBE to the admins of SORBS within the last 48 hours." I don't think the admins looked very closely. Anyone can login to any number of services and send spam out manually. Doesn't mean they should be blacklisted. So I don't think safe.sorbs is a very safe list to be blocking outright on either.
