Oh Great Uficle - A Word Annoyance by Menetlaus 2007-04-26 14:11:05
I'm working on writing a specification for a project, I have a general one that is full of things like: "Submit [6] [___] [electronic] [___] copies" and "[As indicated,] [As directed by [Departmental Representative] [Engineer] [Consultant] [___],] provide [XXXX] [YYYY] "

I have been told to track changes and have someone else review, but I clearly need to delete all the un-necessary junk. Word (using 2003) has the annoying habit of occasionally removing spaces around the selected text and joining the two words on either side - so I then need to make a second change to put the space back in. Does anyone know how to make word to delete the SELECTED TEXT ONLY?

It doesn't do this every time... just enough to make me wonder why, if there were two spaces left and it automatically removed one I could understand, but to sometimes leave none and then have a spelling error (as twowords don't make one) makes no sense to me.

I think it has to do with intelligent selection. by merlin2007-04-26 14:12:41
So far it seems to work by Menetlaus2007-04-26 15:06:14
A workaround: press space instead of delete. by Phoon2007-04-26 14:14:11
