Any consumer who purchases a product that exists on media has a right to a backup of the information on that media. This means that either copy protection is not allowed, or any company who chooses to copy protect it's media must package two copies of each product with each sale.
License keys are cumbersome, unjust, useless as they are cracked in almost every case, and therefore, they are illegal.
A customer who wishes replacement of damaged media must send the original media back to the company with some sort of verifiable post mark (e.g. registered mail, certified mail, Federal Express, etc).
Any company receiving such a request must deliver a replacement within four weeks of the post date.
