Though I do blame most of that mess on the President's successor who also liked to micro-manage. So far as I'm concerned Congress should ask Patraeus one question only. "What do you need to stabilize Iraq so we can bring you home?" Then they should provide it. The Bush Administration should follow suit by telling Patraeus: "Stabilize Iraq as quickly as you can." That should be his only order. Let him sort out the details.
