The less heat thing is a major WIN for me.

My office is upstairs, which is harder to cool anyway, and when I have the main light on (a 300w halogen torchiere) it gets HOT in there, like 78+ when the rest of the house is 68-70 (F)

I am gonna move the torch to the basement (where it would rarely ever be used) and buy a fluorescent torchiere in the same light-output range, 250-300w, which should be around a 80-100w fluor bulb.

Yeah, they claim it's 1/4 the wattage, but to get the same light, you need to go with 1/3 or so. The 26w (100w) bulbs are NOT as bright as the standard 100w bulbs no matter how often they make the claim. Just a tad brighter than 75w bulbs, IMHO.
