the Schutzstaffel used brown for the uniforms, but so did the SS
your words from your posting before. Little bit confused?
that was my point: SS was the shorter form of Schutzstaffel.
And the uniform was black not brown. At least in my "Schlag Nach" from 1938.
and now in thais post is also something wrong. Spartakusbund didn't exist anymore when SA was foundet. Spartakusbund was a split up from the SPD 1916-1919, the predecessor organisation of USPD and KPD. It was an intellectuals organisation, Liebknecht, Luxemburg, you know?, not much streetfighters. But I guess you had the "Rote Frontkämpfer Bund" in mind.
And what streetfighter groups of the SPD do you have in mind? If only they had some, than we hadn't had all that s4.
And I know what you have mentioned, that wasn't my point. But you had written we used Feldgrau (that is an mistake in wikipedia) and green uniforms in the Bundeswehr, and that we did not. At least in the in the span from the ending sixtieth to the ninetieth that I have served as an active and as a reservist my UNIFORM for Germany was blue, my UNIFORM for other countries was khaki. And the UNIFORM of the Heer was gray. The work suit has been green, and the combat suit (good against radiation ;-) a yellow green melange, the combat clothes for winter combat have been white camouflage.
