It is a huge inconsistency but I can see why he did it that way. The story of breaking her out was needed in some form for the movie to work, you can't assume people have seen the show. Simply repeating the version from the TV show just wouldn't have worked, to long and not enough action for the start of a movie. Yes it's a difference but it's forgiveable.
