Help! XP boot takes forever. by scum 2007-04-20 03:40:49
Since this morning my system takes forever to boot up and I have no clue why. It took like 20 sec before and now takes nearly 2 min.

There are no autostarts or anything. I did not install anything as far as I can remember. A hint that it's not the autostarts is that it does not show me the desktop before 2 min or so. So what takes more time then it should is this black screen with the xp logo and the loading bar.

I already deactivated the network card but that was no help.

The only uncommon thing I did was scanning my system for infected files.

What can I do? Is there any way to see what happens in the booting process?

PLease help, I can't sit still for a moment when I know there is something wrong with my machine and I can't figure out what.
