My favorite was the one with Spock going back in time to meet himself as a boy. To save having to figure out how to draw space suits and be able to tell who's who, they gave them personal force fields on a belt that protects them from vacuum. That way they could use the same old stock drawings and just add a little yellow glow-bubble around them. Now, why they chose to make the tribbles pink is completely beyond me....
