| A liar who claims to speak in the name of God is, per the bible, evil and required to be put to death. Which is exactly what Lewis was getting at, as far as I can see, he just assumed that readers would be familiar with the idea. Jesus himself reaffirms the warning against false prophets. So if you follow the Jewish or the Christian faith you have to accept that Jesus is either the real thing, or evil (honestly I don't see any evidence for God showing pity on the basis of an insanity defense). |
