      Every now and then a hydrogen or helium bounces by hobbs 2007-04-06 10:36:45
off of you. There aren't many of them, but to compensate, they're moving rather quickly. In fact, they're moving quickly enough to have an effective temperature of around 3K (the same as the average radiative temperature of the universe). Although in places where things are denser (i.e. in the vicinity of a galaxy) this temperature can get noticeably higher.
