Both of those bolts are Marlins. The bottom one is .22LR. I love them. They are comfortable to shoot and very accurate. For your first rifle I would recommend any of the four calibers it is offered in (.22 LR, .17 Mach2, .22 Mag, .17 HMR).

If you are looking at the Marlin semi-auto I have never used one so I am not sure how good they are. The Ruger 10/22 is nice inexpensive semi-auto.

I don't have a .17 Mach2 but I have heard good things about the caliber. .22LR is going to be the cheapest to feed but the ammo for the others are not very expensive.
